About Us
In July, 2001, Courage to Change Ministries began as a faith based recovery meeting for addicts desiring total recovery through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Very quickly we heard the call into the jail and prison ministry. The song, "My house is full, but My field is empty. Who will go and work for Me today?" comes to mind.
Christ has blessed Courage to Change with doors opening in prisons in Arkansas and Oklahoma! Our mission is not only to set men free behind bars; but to disciple them both inside and outside the prison walls. Fruit must stay attached to the Vine in order to grow and produce seed on its own; if it is detached too quickly, it will wither and die, bearing no seed to reproduce.
Courage to Change: 12 Step Recovery Ministry
Courage to Change Recovery Ministry began when our pastor, Rev. Don Hutchings, asked a simple question: "What could we, as a church, do to reach out to addicts in and out of recovery?" Within a week's time, the Lord had put upon our heart, how to meet the need. Our response was a faith based meeting for addicts desiring total recovery through a relationship with Jesus Christ. God placed in my hands the NIV Recovery Devotional Bible, printed by Zondervan.
The primary purpose of the meeting has always been to reintroduce addicts to a God whose grace and mercy are never ending. By utilizing the Meditations and Life Connections printed within the Recovery Devotional Bible, we continually challenge members to spend time daily in prayer and Bible study. The lives that have been changed are innumerable!
This year we were blessed with the opportunity to have our own facility. "The Courage Center" is a meeting place for those seeking recovery with a strong spiritual foundation. We are holding meetings every day of the week and seeing souls saved as clean and sober addicts find God -- the only thing to fill that vaccuum inside.
